Ladies and Gentleman,
Â
I hope everyone is doing well and has made plans to attend tomorrow’s meeting. We do have a scheduled guest speaker on the agenda for tomorrow evening. Our guest speaker is Aaron Kephart, a local fishing guide as well as a Cherokee County school teacher. I’m not sure which profession Aaron likes best, as I am sure both are very rewarding, but I would wager a bet that he might choose fishing as the most relaxing. Aaron is a fine young man and comes from a long family line of fishing fanatics and I’m sure is a wealth of information for you fisherman.
Â
Last month we touched on member Michael Howe starting a club newsletter. That is still on the table, but Michael is in need of some people to help supply information that he will place in the newsletter. Michael just needs the basic information that you think would be of interest to the members, and he will compile it for the newsletter. You don’t have to worry about correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. He will take care of that himself.
Â
In closing, we hope to see you tomorrow night on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 7:00 pm at Downtown Pizza.
Â
Respectfully,
Jeff Gustason
MOUNTAIN COUNTRY ROD & GUN CLUBÂ
MINUTES:Â Â Meeting 7 pm Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Downtown PizzaÂ
ATTENDANCE: John Mattox, Jeff Gustason, Tom Coy, Bill Henz, Tim and Joyce Portik, Doug and Nona Miguel, Mike and Michelle Howe, Tom Early, Joe Liguori, Margaret and Ray Smith, Karen and David Underwood, Jim Garrison, and Herb Clark. Â
PRESIDENT GUSTASON: Jeff opened the meeting to order at 7:05 pm and the pledge of allegiance was led by Joe Liguori. Minutes were read and approved. A Georgia game warden had planned to be here but couldn’t make it. We will try to have a guest speaker next month. Michael Howe mentioned publishing a monthly newsletter. Jeff told the club that reloading supplies are going up. Because of the ongoing wars in Ukraine and Israel supplies are being reduced. Also, in response to a question, all of our gun club members have a million dollar policy from the NRA.Â
JOE LIGUORI: Joe says that Parrot Feather has invaded Lake Chatuge. Over $500,000 has been raised to eradicate the plants. Eradication is being done now by injecting chemicals into the soil. The chemicals are harmless to humans and fish. Joe also mentioned that coyotes are open season in Georgia. Â
With no further business the minutes and treasurer’s report were accepted. We have $5,594.98 in the treasury as of April 30, 2024. Tom Coy made the motion to accept the treasure’s report and adjourn and Bill Henz seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 pm.Â
