Mountain Country Rod and Gun Club
Earlier this month our club received a call from Denise Cross who works at the Senior Citizens center. She informed us that the Cherokee County commissioners met in November and decided to raise our rent from $20 to $50 per meeting with a $100 deposit that would have to be made for each meeting to cover cleaning, if needed. We also learned that we can no longer meet at night and the commissioners were shocked to learn that our meetings were being held at night. The commissioners only want meetings to be held while employees are in the building. So, with the above said, we have to find another place to meet.
Recently Jeff called Downtown Pizza to see if we could meet there. After talking to the owners they offered a large room where we could meet. For a fee of $25 to $30 per meeting the owners have offered to make a pizza for us or a dessert pizza. They also have fountain drinks and water that members can buy, and even the pizza buffet if members wish to purchase a big meal before or after the meeting. We will be sending out an email to all members to get their response, but for now the January 16, 2024 meeting will be at Downtown Pizza. Also since our meetings are after business hours parking would be available at Nantahala Bank, First Citizens Bank / parking lot, and across the street from Downtown Pizza so parking shouldn’t be a problem. Sorry if this is an inconvenience, but I think this will be much better for the club in the long run.
Respectfully,
Jeff Gustason / John Mattox
